The Feast

By Olivia Li, Carlmont High School, 11th Grade

I have always enjoyed photography and have participated in art competitions with my photos. When I was younger, I went to an Earth Day Fair where I was introduced to the condor conservation project. the project made a lasting impression on me as I realized just how important a species can be. Recently, I went hiking in Point Lobos and captured the scene in my photo.

My photo shows California Condors, a species previously labeled as extinct in the wild, is now making a come back thanks to a conservation plan. Their story is one of success, proving the importance of protecting the environment as these birds are a keystone species and their extinction will cause a collapse in their ecosystem.
